types of galaxys
First of all a galaxy is a system of millions or billions of stars, together with gas and dust, held together by gravitational attraction
Spiral galaxies are the most intriguing visually but there are many different types of galaxies such as
Elliptical they are basically all bulge with no disk. They can range from spherical to football-like shapes
Irregulars - catchall type for galaxies without symmetric shapes, and no clear bulge or disk this is the most common type of galaxy
Andromeda Galaxy
Andromeda galaxy is approximately 2.5 million light years away from earth and is the nearest spiral galaxy to the milky way but not the closest over all. This certain galaxy is named after the mythical princess Andromeda. Andromeda is the largest galaxy is the largest of the group which consists of the milky way and the Triangulum galaxy and about 30 other smaller Galaxies. It is one of the only 4 galaxies that can be seen without a telescope. They thought the width of this galaxies disk is about 260,000 light years . But they discovered low-metallicity, red giant stars about 500,000 ly away from Andromeda's core which means that the galaxy is much larger than they thought so that Andromeda's halo might actually overlap the milky way's. Andromeda's disk might be as much as twice as large than the milky way's. recent studies say that Andromeda is about 200 billion solar masses and the milky way is as much as 600 billion solar masses.
Facts
Astronomers use electromagnetic radiation that is detected by a certain type of telescope to find the location and temperature of galaxies.

The Milky Way Galaxy
• Galileo is credited for discovering it
• Estimated to be between 10 and 13.6 billion years old
• The center of the milky way is a super massive black hole 26,000 light years away from earth. It measures 22.5 million km across
• Scientists estimate that there is between 200-400 billion starts in the milky way alone.
• The light mater is between 100,000 to 120,000 light years in diameter, but if you add the dark matter it is much bigger.
• The milky way is a spiral galaxy and earth is suppose to be 25,000 light years away from the rim and center so basically located half the radius.
• The Milky Way has a halo of dark matter that makes up over 90% of its mass and from the earlier fact that means that there's almost double of dark matter that there is nine times as big as the light matter which would calculate to between 900,000 to 1,080,000 light years in diameter without the light matter with it would be between 1,000,000 and 1,200,000 This would matter because this almost proves that it would be virtually Impossible to travel across even our own galaxy to another planet we don't have enough food, fuel and resources for how long that would take.
• What is light matter? What is dark matter?
Light matter is in the center of the milky way it is all of the solar systems stars the dark matter is the stuff that just looks like nothing just blank space it has hardly nothing in it but is still part of our galaxy
Why is it called the milky way?
To put it in my own words it's called the milky way because the light matter looks almost like suspended milk is space because it is so bright and it looks white
What is currently happening with the Milky Way? (expanding, shrinking, new stars….)
The milky way is eating a dwarf galaxy which is only making the galaxy even bigger making even more impossible to travel to other galaxies and across our galaxy to live somewhere else.
